D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective will develop, produce and present the contemporary theatre production Amor.
D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective, under the creative leadership of Priscila Da Cunha & Cesar Genaro, will present Amor in the Black Box Theatre at the Old Ambulance Station, in Nambour, in May 2024. Brought to life by the visionary D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective, Amor is a brilliantly devised physical theatre spectacle that invites Sunshine Coast audiences to dive deep into the enigmatic essence of love’s in-between spaces.
Amor is an exploration of love’s subtle nuances, defying conventions to celebrate the beauty of the unfamiliar emotional territory. Inspired by the intricacies of human existence, this production is a vivid testament to the power of experiencing love from unusual perspectives. Within a mesmerising visual and sound landscape, a multicultural ensemble of performers takes their place at the crossroads of love and its polar opposites. Love meets anger, compassion faces indifference, and courage dances with fear — these extremes converge in a captivating display that’s as thought-provoking as it is emotionally stirring.
Every person holds a love story, and Amor leads the audience on a journey into their own narrative. It incites reflection on what separates one from others and what binds us all together in the collective story of humanity.
The production will shatter traditional boundaries with its unique blend of movement, visual poetry, and compelling narratives. In a non-conventional theatre setting where there are no stages or seats, spectators stand alongside the performers, embarking on a truly visceral and emotional experience. As we challenge conventions and approach love from diverse angles, Amor beckons the audience to explore the depths of love’s in-betweenness, asking: What is our journey, and is it ever too late to rediscover the enchantment of love again?
